Freelance Writer

2022 – Present

I have been writing freelance since 2022 including articles for other brands/platforms, scripts (both TV and features), and ghostwriting for content creators. In my capacity as a ghostwriter, it’s my aim to replicate their unique style by accurately and authentically reproducing their voice, providing continuity for their audience and fans. Ghostwriting requires a deft hand, as I am often directly in touch with fans on the creators’ behalf, with the fans under the impression they are speaking directly to the personality. Not only does it involve adhering to a style guide, but also mimicking the creators’ personality, style and likely genuine response in real time: the fans should never suspect that they are speaking with anyone other than the creator. It is imperative to the fan experience that this illusion never falter.

Pleasure Chest

2019-2023

During my time at Pleasure Chest in West Hollywood, I oversaw the final copyediting pass on product pages and the newsletter, as well as writing some of the product copy myself. Additionally, I was responsible for looking up and ensuring accuracy on each products specs and conducting a full website audit of specs, including the completeness of each as well as the style standardization and SEO terms. I was also contributed as a long-form content writer for the company’s blog on the topics of both product selection and queer identity.

USC, School of Cinematic Arts

2013-2016

Prior to and for the first two years after enrolling in graduate school at USC, I was a full-time staff member in the Division of Media Arts + Practice—a research division that became a full-fledged academic division under the guidance of media scholar and critic Holly Willis. Hired at the dawn of this transition, I became both the custodian and executor of the Division’s voice and aesthetic in our newsletters (which I launched), promotional materials (fliers, event postings, recruitment materials, exhibition catalogues, etc.), and more. Not only did I do a great deal of copywriting on behalf of the Division, but also did a final copyediting pass on much of the student, faculty and staff writing contributed. I also designed and wrote presentations for faculty based on the academic research and materials they were showcasing. With the help of Division leadership, we established a voice and created a very specific style guide that addressed things such as the kind of language used and punctuation (we were not a fan of the Oxford comma in the Division, though personally I enjoy it) as well as color palettes and stylization of graphics.

In addition to working for the Division of Media Arts + Practice, I served in a staff overload position as Research Assistant to Mary Sweeney, assisting her in research, analyzation and distillation of information on the relationships between dreams, storytelling, the brain, and neurocinematics.
