THE PILL is a six part, one-hour historical drama. The show follows both a historical timeline with real figures, as well as a fictional contemporary storyline set in the present. In the past, we follow the pioneers—Margaret Sanger, Gregory Pincus, John Rock, and Katharine McCormick among others—during the conception of the Pill in the 1950s through the Nelson Pill Hearings in 1970 before Congress. We also delve into their personal lives and histories. The present day storyline follows a PhD candidate in Women’s Studies whose research leads her to discover her own family’s deep connection to and integral part in the development of the Pill, as well coming to terms with her own.
