Jackson is a transmasc, queer writer of mixed descent: Jewish, Indigenous (Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma), and Caucasian. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he attended an all girls prep school for most of his young life and always felt like he was just the slightest bit out of place. When he wasn’t at school, he was reading a book in the car on the way to the barn. A competitive equestrian in Western disciplines from age 8 to 18, he spent tens of thousands of hours of his youth on horseback. After finishing high school, he attended UC Berkeley and was an English major for two and a half years, prior to transferring to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University to pursue a BFA in visual art. He returned to L.A. after finishing his degree and was thrilled to become a full-time staff member in the School of Cinematic Arts at USC specializing in administration and special projects: research, writing, design and event producing for the Division of Media Arts + Practice. It was an incredible blend of so many of his interests and he loved being able to support faculty, students and media professionals in their pursuits.

Following graduate school, Jackson struck out on his own and bounced around in a variety of different jobs, nearly all of which continued to utilize his written and visual storytelling skills in some capacity or another. With a cinematographer for a father, a script supervisor for a mother, and a family of loud and rowdy folks who love to tell family stories, it’s unsurprising that storytelling has been the through line of his personal narrative and journey.

In addition Jackson’s interests outside books, movies and TV, he’s an avid knitter and loves to do crafty little projects at home whenever time permits. He is sober and actively participates in both the sober and queer communities in Los Angeles.

He is currently developing a queer cowboy period romance inspired by his experiences and by his memories of going to the local rodeos in the 1990s and early 2000s.
